Recently bought a home with a finished basement. The basement has occasional and noticeable gaps between the bottom of the baseboard and the large tiled flooring. I'd like to fill these and I can't find a reason on the internet to not caulk the gaps but figured I'd ask as most info is about non-basement floors.I'm wondering if the gaps are purposeful (perhaps to allow entry of water if flooding) and caulking should be avoided. Some of the edges do look filled with, though with what looks like grout from the flooring tile; not sealed with caulk. My goal isn't necessarily to water proof it but rather stop entry of pests, etc. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2OSUsFw
