When I’m in the market for a big purchase I ask myself, how many hours did I have to work to earn this much money, and if I am going to use the item for more hours/ save more money using it.

For example, Mother’s Day weekend 2016 I purchased a $350 electric longboard. At the time $350 was a lot of money, but I have saved way more than that by using it. I ride my longboard to and from work daily and I saved $300 on a parking pass for my college. The amount of money I have saved from this board alone outweighs the toll it took on my wallet at the time.
