Does anyone have any tips on websites to learn how to tailor your own clothes?

Some of my old clothes have gotten too big, but I don't want to donate them just yet (sentimental reasons, mostly - any other suggestions for preserving special shirts are also cool!), and I just like making things last as long as I can.

I'm pretty new to sewing but I would really, really like to learn more so I can make the clothes I already have/thrift store finds last even longer!

Some notes: I'm kind of living in the middle of nowhere, so I would have a hard time making regular classes, as the nearest ones are about an hour away.

I have a sewing machine (a cheapo Singer) and supplies to hand sew too, if that would be better.

Also, I'm a chubby bunny, so I haven't invested in any dress forms because they don't match my body size - plus size dress forms seem kind of expensive, do I need one? Or can I just measure my own body and work off that?

Thank you!!!
