I just bought some new 100 watt LED light bulbs at Walmart for $2.25 per bulb. I did the math and I pay $0.264 per watt (generation, distribution and transmission are charged on a per kWh basis). Given that I previously had 150 watt bulbs and now have the LED consuming 15 Watts, assuming I keep my bulb on 6 hours a day, this equates to (150-15)/10006365*$0.264 = $78. That means I would save $78 per year per light bulb that I replace. The incremental cost of the bulb vs a traditional light bulb is $1-$1.50. It’s a no brained to replace all your traditional light bulbs with LED ones given how much LED prices have dropped (and will continue to drop in the future). I would love to hear your thoughts for or against the above.
