Looking for some energy savings ideas. For some background on the house: it’s 5,400 sq ft, built in the mid 70’s and I’m assuming has poor insulation and no weather stripping under doors. It has three thermostat units, for the den, living room/main floor, and upstairs. Den remains off, other two are left at 75 while home and turned up to 77-78 when away or sleeping.
My first move was to replace the most frequently used lights with LED bulbs and we’ve been super careful about not leaving anything on in uninhabited areas. Dishwasher and W/D run once a week.
Our bill says we used 2,584 kWh this month, which we both agree seems extremely high given our efforts to conserve. I work in the energy industry, and did the math to find GA Power charging us 12.3 cents per kWh, which isn’t helping the problem but nothing to be done about that.
Any other ideas or possible reasons why we’re consuming so much power?
