I noticed the last paycheck I got was larger than normal. Looking at the line by line, I saw that the amount they charged for social security was much less than normal. For example, 2 paychecks ago (and really all paychecks from this year)

Gross: 4848 Social Security Tax: -298.99

but this most recent check was:

Gross: 4848 Social Security Tax: -10.63

While i'm obviously not against having less money taken out for taxes, i'm well aware that's not how things typically work.

So any idea why this may be happened? Should I be contacting my HR department, or are there other steps I should take?
