Thought you guys might like this. If you haven't heard of Root Car Insurance, it is basically telematics based car insurance company that tracks your driving style and gives you a quote if you are a good driver. They currently have a referral offer where you get $50 just for downloading the app and driving until they give you a quote (about 3 weeks, no obligation to sign up). I downloaded and got a quote, and was actually pretty surprised with the policy rates.
Previously had State Farm, was paying $720 / 6 mo. for my 1 person car insurance. After the 3 weeks, Root gave me a quote for a few different policies. The equivalent to my current State Farm coverage was only $396 / 6 mo. I got a 10/10 driver rating (influenced largely by # miles driven from what I've seen), so this may have been a best case scenario. Still a huge savings though without relinquishing coverage, especially with how expensive car insurance is these days.
