I'm 30 years old and recently moved to Las Vegas after graduating from college. I have a job that pays about 2400/mo after taxes and what not.

When I first moved out here, I had nothing but a few suitcases of clothes and a box of small personal belongings. I knew no one and had no real help. So my solution to getting through the endless tribulations and problems was just to throw money at it and get settled ASAP. I was paying almost 1,100/mo plus utilities for a 1br. I had to get a car, and I deferred my student loans over and over again. Every month I was broke for most of the month, wiping out every source of saved money I had. On top of it all, I've been recently diagnosed with a disease that requires surgery. That really woke me up to needing to get my shit together.

Now I'm in a new place paying 480 utilities included. I need to get my food costs down and start paying down this student loan ASAP.

I'm going to start following this subreddit but if anyone has some tried and true hot takes for me I'd appreciate it.
