I'm 17, older brother is 21. After serving 3-4 years in the Army for the benefits of the G.I. bill (which I will immediately utilize for free housing, tuition and books) and getting basic/advanced EMT training and an associate's/bachelor's degree in Fire Science, I will move in with my older bro. In the worst case scenario that I manage to not get hired to work as a paid firefighter, I will work part-time just like my older bro.

In New York his small ass apartment that he's shared with roommates has a rent of $850. Not sure about cost of other bills. He lives near a library within walking distance which can be used for wifi, so let's assume we don't need a wifi bill. He has a metro card that he uses to take the train to work.

So here's what we've both been thinking lately; since he's too poor to invest even 10/15% of his pay into savings and doesn't have a 401k, I could move in with him. We could move somewhere else in the world that has significantly lower rent and with similar living conditions. We'll split money on rent and other bills 50/50, both work part time jobs, and then whenever we have the time, learn a skill or a trade and then work full time. Or if we're good enough as it is living part time, then we'll do just that, and then both invest a good portion of money into savings (I'd say in the 25-40% range) if we have to in order to spend on a good TV, a gaming system or a gaming PC or two, and whatever the hell else we want or feel like getting.

We're both still gonna live in the shithole apartment which honestly isn't bad for neither him or me. Hell, we wouldn't even need a bed to sleep on. Just a mattress and/or a couch along with a few pillows. All that would really be needed are the bare basics (kitchen, one bathroom, washing machine and dryer, a dinner table, two desks and two chairs) and enough space to do various bodyweight exercises such as push-ups and sit-ups which we'll use to maintain our health.

We'll even buy workout equipment such as dumbbells/barbells and a pull-up bar once we save enough.

Anyway, this is ultimately the plan my brother and I have been thinking. We don't give a shit about living conditions, if we're alive and healthy that's all that's even worth a damn to us. Is this a realistic plan? What are the problems in it? Would this be a good lifestyle in the long run?
