Specifically New Jersey. I was just offered a night shift job that pays roughly $40k per year. I’m 24 years old, current job: Food Runner.. making $15~ an hour. It’s an easy job and I was even able to afford a winter rental off that, but my savings account dropped. I’m back with my parents and plan on staying here until I’m 26. The job offers full benefits, 401k, pension, etc. I have no debt or bills to pay for at the moment. The job generally entails stocking up trucks, but potentially could advance into a delivery route that pays way more. I’m definitely gonna give it a shot. Just curious what people on here think about it. (I have an Associates degree in Math, not sure if I want to continue school).
So let’s fast forward 2 years from now. I have roughly $60k saved in the bank. Continuing the profession with room to grow and even move if possible. I’m single and although enjoy chilling with friends and mingling, I prefer to live an introverted lifestyle. (Not a big fan of going out and getting wasted for fun). Video games, traveling and sports are what truly interest me.
Maybe someday if I meet the right girl I’d get married and have kids, but that’s a whole different ball game.
So as a single man in his mid 20s, will $40k be enough to live comfortably in America?
Any advice?
