Hi DIY,I have an old and deteriorating 12'x24' deck that came with my my place when I moved in about two years ago. It was built to an awkward height of 36" and formed around an above ground pool. The pool was removed before I moved in and has been at the same raised height since. The house is a ranch on a concrete slab (Southeast NC) and had always been awkward to walk up to the deck from the ground level back door and makes it very easy to peer down into each of my neighbor’s yards or allow them to see whatever we are doing up on the deck.I have begun to remove the deck boards and also want lower the entire thing to ground level so that it is a single step up from the back door. Idealistically I would like to reuse the joists, lower it, and simply add new deck boards. Is this possible? I’ve looked extensively for instructions of lowering the joists while still connected and only found this one terrible [YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rokApzW2Oc) video. If I have to I will disassemble the joists and re-hang them at the lower height but, again, trying to see if there is an easier way.Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.https://ift.tt/2k9q649 via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2KGvyXs
