This may not be the place for this, but here goes anyway. I’m 42 years old, have 4 kids, all but one is through high school, recently married for the 2nd time. I’ve been a mechanic for 20 years and am at the point that I hate it. I’ve worked on everything from small engines to heavy equipment, presently working industrial maintenance in a manufacturing plant. I have some management background (managed a shop for 7 years) and consider myself a pretty bright guy. But I have no college degree, and the only job offers I get are for more mechanic jobs. I’ve taken multiple aptitude tests, and they all tell me I’m right where I belong. I’ve looked at getting a business degree and trying to get into some type of project management or possibly even trying my hand at getting into the tech field, I just worry that I’m too old. Am I screwed without a degree at this point if I want to move on/out/up?
