So some background - I work for a company that has a structure in which my job goes from Assistant to Associate then to Senior Level. In 2015 I worked at the 'assistant level'. In 2016 I was promoted to the 'Associate' level where I worked with that title until this past December, where I was promoted to the Senior level. Fast forward to 20 minutes ago, I get into the office early to do some work and the printer is backed up due to an empty paper tray. I fill it up and the back log of print jobs come out, one of which is our Internal Corporate Tree, which lists every employee, their title, and who they report to - with "CONFIDENTIAL" emboldened at the top. Next to my name I am still listed at the assistant level, along with my coworker who I came up with, and was promoted at the same time with. The other peculiar thing is that we hired 2 other teammates during 2016 one directly at the Senior level, the other in the Associate level. The person we hired at the Senior level is listed correctly, while the Person we hired in the Associate level is listed at the Senior level, meanwhile they did not get promoted to that level, at least to my knowledge - Their email signature and Business Card still states Associate.
I'm feeling a little angry and a little betrayed. I really want to confront my boss about this and ask if my promotions have been just for outside appearances, and if I'm truly paid at the assistant level. Any idea on how to have this conversation? Should I just ignore this and move on?
