I'm not sure what to take from this but I'm pretty confused, to say the least. I tried searching around and couldn't find a solid answer to this.
I'm pretty new to CC's. I've been browsing around for new cards so I could build up my credit age while in college. I was accepted for a few cards and I wanted one last card for daily spending after my Discover IT card lost it's 2% cash back after the first year. I decided to apply for the Citi Double Cash Card.
- Applied for the Citi Double Cash Card
- Denied after submitting my application and I would receive a letter in 7-10 days stating why.
- Woke up to an email stating I was approved for the Citi ThankYou Preferred Card and I would receive my card in 7-10 days.
Exactly stating: "We're delighted to let you know you've been approved for the Citi ThankYou® Preferred Card, with a credit limit of $-,---. Your account is considered open as of today, 05/11/18."
Questions:
-Is this common to be done by credit card companies?
-If this actually is the case, is that even "allowed"? lol
-If this isn't possible, did I somehow fuck up while applying?
A very small part of me just thinks I just went stupid and applied for the ThankYou Preferred Card and they just decided to reverse(?) their choice? or somewhere in their essay of terms I accepted, I allowed them to do this if I qualified for another instead.
