I was an exchange student in the US many years ago, and opened a Wells Fargo account when I was there.

After returning to my home country, I left the account alone for many years. I was surprised to receive an email (one of their mass emails) from them a few days ago, after so long. Decided to check on my account.

I can't log-in into my account as I've forgotten my username/password, and account/card numbers. The only info I have with me now are some very old emails with the last 4 digits of my account and card number, and its billing address.

Called customer service, they say without my full number, the only way I can check, let alone close my account, is to visit a US branch in person.

I don't mind closing my account when I visit the US next (who knows? Many years later?) if there's nothing bad with the account. But if the account incurs any monthly fees or if someone had unauthorized access, I might have gotten into trouble..

Those familiar with Wells Fargo, any suggestions?
