So I am going through my work to make a hardship withdrawal. But I have a question. (Sorry for the length).

So when I moved back in with my parents, we made an official lease and had it notarized. That was back in January. Well, things have been tight and I haven't been able to make the last three months of payment, due to school, unforeseen expenses, etc, and totaling, it is about $2000 in back payment. My parents are going by the books, and so they gave me an eviction notice (does it have to be notarized?) stating that if I didn't pay by Oct. 15th, I'd be kicked out. I really don't have anywhere to go.

My question is that when I submit for this hardship withdrawal, are they going to see me as living with my parents as suspicious and not grant me the money? Or do they not look too much into that, as long as I have the correct documents? Whereas if it was with someone with a different last name than mine, I feel like they wouldn't look twice.

Because my parents are fully intending on kicking me out if I don't pay up. I am only 22, and I've tried to get a loan with my bank, but I don't have much credit so they wouldn't grant me it.

And I know making a hardship withdrawal will hit me with a lot of taxes, early withdrawal penalties, etc., but I've only had my 401k opened for about 2.5 years and I've managed to get 5.5k in there already. I'll just make up for lost time when I can get back up on my feet again.

Any information you can give me would be super beneficial!
