In 2007, my parents cosigned a private student loan for me to go to school. I never finished due to developing an anxiety disorder. I pay $370/month and owe $45,000. I never missed a payment but I started paying $330 in 2013 and due to variable interest rates it's now $370. I cannot afford to pay this. I make just enough to feed myself and my child, nonetheless pay this. The most I'm comfortable paying is $350.
My parents aren't willing to help. They aren't willing to try and re-consolidate. I can't make much more until my daughter starts school in ~2 years because childcare costs are astronomical. I have no skills and my mental illness is severe.
I know this is a me problem. But what's going to happen if I give them $350/mo? Do they go for the remainder from my parents? The full amount? I called Wells Fargo many times and they don't care, obviously.
Do I have any other options at all?
