The seal under shower screen in my apartment has been leaking a little for a few months, and I've not done much DIY so I got a contractor in, he gave me a quote of $1200 to do the work, so I've decided to give it a go myself.I'm in a good position as this is our ensuite bathroom, which means we can shower in the main bathroom, and we are planning to completely renovate the ensuite some time in the next 18 months (will likely get pros in for that) - so I'm just using this to learn.Pics: https://ift.tt/2HPNXko a full shot of what I'm dealing withWhenever we use the shower, water leaks under the screen and onto the shower floor. It looks like someone did a poor job of sealing it, or it has just weathered over the years.I did some reading and watched some videos on YouTube detailing similar fixes, but I may have got in a little over my head. I've spent a couple of hours removing most of the old silicone sealant with a caulk remover and a scraper, but what I've found underneath is some mostly solid, but crumbling grout.Once I finish cleaning it out can I just use another silicone sealant to give it a bit more life? The grout between the tiles on the floor don't look amazing and looks like a separate issue. Assuming I can just follow something like this to fix that?I'd love any advice! via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2K4Q2cV
