This is moreso a question of theory.
I've been with my girl for a while. We know we want to marry each other and are pretty much moving forward with life as a forever couple.
I've convinced her not to have a real wedding in general (I want to do something nice but we aren't blowing thousands on a wedding), but the one thing she does want is a ring and a proposal (i've been trying to get her to just sign papers forever).
Ok. So...we focus on saving (i'm super into FIRE) so buying like a $2-4k ring is not at all in the budget for this year.
I could make it work and buy a nice, affordable moissanite ring for like $1500-2k but i'd need to find it/save it up first...could take a little bit.
Or I could get a cheap ring that uses zirconia/moissanite for like $800 and promise to buy a better one in the future (on line an anniversary).
Again, this is a theoretical question -- which would you do and why?
