Hey all. Just removed some old dry fiberglass insulation from a partially exposed air duct in my garage. (Images post-removal: https://ift.tt/2G9O7RQ planning on reinsulating it with this foam, self stick duct insulator I bought from home Depot, but came across a few issues...The duct is too rusty and covered in debris for it to stickOnly 3 sides are exposed, so I can't wrap the duct in itNothing I've researched is helping me find a solution, and the home store people haven't been any help. I'm trying to figure out what my options are. This is what I have come up with...Just reinsulate with fiberglass and staple to the ceiling. But would rather avoid having exposed fiberglass in the garage againSpray foam insulation. But not sure if it would stick to the duct.Cut the ceiling board on either side by about an inch and wrap the self stick foam insulation around the duct. But not sure if there's any wiring in the ceiling I'd mess up, not sure what I could use to cut a wood ceiling safely, and also not sure if it'd work properly if it doesn't stick snugly to the duct. Are there any other insulating options I haven't considered? Thanks! via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2IRoA1U
