Hello /r/DIY. I recently decided that I wanted to hide the speaker wires running through my (rented) apartment, and I figured hiding these cables in the electrical conduits would be perfect. After removing the old electrical wires, I used a nylon cable pulling wire (I think it's called a fish line in English, but I'm not 100% sure that's the correct term, I'm referring to this this) to pull the speaker + electrical wires through the existing conduit (which runs down the wall, below the floor and back up). Based on the title you can probably see where this is going: while pulling on the cable, I managed to get it completely stuck, I cannot seem to get it out from either side.Google recommended me to try to use dishwasher soap to lube the cable up, to try to get it free, but this only allowed me to get the cable stuck further down the conduit. Messing (twisting etc) with the cables on either side did also not work.I'm getting increasingly worried that there is no way to remove this cable without breaking something open, which would be fairly disastrous, since I'm renting my current place. Therefore, I decided to see if any of you have some advice. Is there any trick that would make it possible to remove the stuck cables? If that is not possible, is breaking open my floor the best way to get the stuck cable out? Or should I just call an electrician and hope (s)he can get it out? Finally, if I do have to do the unthinkable and break open my floor/wall, how would I go about such a thing? I have a drywall and a hard wood floor, I don't think I can open up either without damaging something permanently. via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2HMvzrl
