22 year old house. Inspector found some cracking in the foundation and simply recommended that we caulk the cracks and then paint the entire wall with dryloc. He referred to it as settlement, and noted that no moisture appears to be present. Then monitor the cracks over time. Seller didn't disclose any issues, and had most of their belongings piled in front of the wall. At first I wondered if they might be trying to hide other issues, but why would the seller put all of their belongings in front of a wall if they knew it leaked. Also, the house is on a fairly steep hill, and the hill runs both away from, as well as along the wall in question. Although the inspector did point out that there seems to be a small crater under the deck, about the size of a kiddie pool, where water might collect that could be channeled down the hill.Is it possible that this is just some settlement that has happened in the 20 years? Should I get a structural engineer to check things out, or is this cracking minor enough to not be an immediate concern.Pics of the cracking: https://ift.tt/2DFJP6E Pics of the outside of the affected wall(Note the slope away from the house): https://ift.tt/2QeBQEd via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2DTdQR3
