I’m new to this sub. I graduated college in 2012 for music education. Taught HS for a year and didn’t like it so I quit after a year. I’ve been trying to find meaning and purpose in my life and figure out why we are here. What the point is. What my purpose is.
I must say that journey is a very hard one with the constant messages, noise, distractions, data overload and stimulus that plagues the western world. Not to mention we are wired for novelty, newness and to defend ourselves against prey and fast moving things like the ads on the screens of our smartphones or the blinking icons on our computers that demand our attention. So it’s no wonder the human mind is hijacked by fast-paced technology. I’m waiting for a 12-step TA meeting group to form (technology anonymous).
My point in posting in this group is that I’ve grown to have some clarity in my life. A little more value and purpose. I’ve deleted all the social media apps on my phone and turned my notifications off on the apps I do have (FB Messenger, Reddit etc.). The only reason I keep messenger and still have a Facebook account is for work and music gigs/groups I’m part of.
I am a composer and have been wanting and yearning to create some hefty works of art and since I’ve been unplugging slowly, I have found some time to do that.
