Hi all,
So when I first moved to Vancouver I found a budget studio apartment for about $900/month, at the time I was making about $40k/year salary, so it was doable.
I'm up to $55k a year, and it's been about 3 years since I moved in to this place and it's pretty dumpy. The space is fine, but it's falling apart, the landlord is non-existant, there are cockroaches everywhere, etc etc.
So I feel like now that I'm 28, it's time to upgrade. I found a small but nice brand new studio closer to work for about $1230/month with internet+hydro included, so it's about $250 more a month than I am currently paying.
I don't have any student debts or car payments/car at all, and since I'm moving closer to work I can get rid of my bus pass.
Is this a doable amount, or am I crazy to spend that much on rent with how little I make per year?
I should note I am single and have no kids either, so all my money is mine. I currently put $200 a month away to RRSP and $150 a month to long term savings.
