I used to make my own bread but eventually I realized that it took up so much of my time that it wasn't worth the amount of time that it took. I eventually figured it was best just to buy cheap $1 loafs of bread.

Last week, however, I was listening to The Choose FI podcast and they were talking about bread makers. I went to Goodwill and got one for $3. (Pro tip: every Goodwill on Earth has crock pots, bread makers, and rice cookers. ) After one week I have to say it was a good choice!

I've read a few articles that say you can make bread for as low as 18 cents a loaf if you buy flour and yeast in bulk.
