If you are a family be sure sure to look into membership at your local Zoo. We get membership every year, and its around 120$ for ths Family plan of 2 adults and 4 kids this included free admission the first time. Admissio for the 4 if us would be like 80$. So using it twice and we save money.
The real value comes from the AZA membership that grants us free and discounted admissions to over 120 zoos and Museums across the country.
We are in southern New England, and Roger Williams Park Zoo is where we get our membership, we also travel to the Boston Museum of science often, we do have to pay for parking and the special exhibits there, though. All in all our 120$ equates to about 600$ in memberships yearly.
