This topic is a bit touchy for some.

I personally became frugal as a result of having been raised upper-middle class and then growing into a lower-middle class career and losing relatives and their support. I realized at a certain point that I reached a glass ceiling in terms of income and would not be able to maintain the only lifestyle I knew. Along my adventures into frugality, I ran into more than a few people with some fascinating stories, some of them shockingly similar in theme to mine. I was curious as to how many of you have gotten into frugality as a result of loss of lifestyle or income? No pressure, finances is a sensitive subject, but if you'd like to share your experience it would really help others feel a little bit less isolated.
