So I'm on the phone with my mom and she's so upset about losing her checkbook that she answered my question of whether she wanted to hang up with "No, I want to find my checkbook."
One thing that she brought up was that maybe she should get rid of her antique desks. Since the 80's she's had a computer on this poor tiny letter-writing desk that could be a cute makeup table with a paint-job and a mirror.
Her other desk is a serpentine front Governor Winthrop desk. She uses it for storage, as in she cleans it out and then finds stuff to stick in the letter-cubbies. I told her a memory of when it first came into the house and she made me do math homework at it... The bottom might have had stuff in it but there might have been one thing in the cubbies if anything.
My point is that these old desks were designed for different purposes and maybe their functions are outdated.... or something.
