I was wondering if anyone has opted to scale back on things like networking and professional memberships as a part of their move toward simplicity. I feel like a lot of my mental clutter comes from various professional list-servs, groups, etc that I have felt obligated to join (and attempt to be active in) as a form of "networking." I'm really sick of it all, but it's hard to kick the fear that I need them to get future jobs, especially when I have coworkers who actually get recruited based on their activity in these things (I do not, though, so maybe I'm not very good at it anyway, ha).
