I'm planning to build a simple wooden cabin that needs to withstand all of the elements. The structure will be timber frame. I'm planning to place mineral wool insulation into the frame and clad the interior. ill be covering the outside of the frame with a waterproof membrane before cladding the exterior with either timber or wrigley tin. I'm writing here as I need some advice on selecting an appropriate water proof membrane. I've had a look at various products but I'm not sure if I need something that is 100% waterproof, like a pond liner? Or if I should go for a 'breathable' membrane. If my understanding is correct, a breathable membrane should give resistance to incoming water, whilst also allowing damp to evaporate and dissipate. Am I correct in my thinking here? Would a 'breathable membrane' provide sufficient water proofness?Any advice from someone who has experience with these things would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2mmoWUr
