My Parents are at retirement age and they didn’t really plan for anything. My mom will be relying on social security and my step dad has his pension and SS. My mom is scared and it’s freaking me out.

I know I can’t help them financially, I don’t want to ruin my own future trying. I’ve at least got them so they’re willing to listen to professional advice. I said I’d pay the first $500, I just don’t know who we need to talk to which is why I’m here. Or even if that’s what we need to do.

I want to make sure that we’re taking to the right trustworthy people and asking the right questions. Is some sort of coaching what we want? We don’t even know what we don’t now. I’d hate to get a question answered when it wasn’t even the right question in the first place. Reminds me of that saying that the customer doesn’t know what they want. LOL

I don’t know what to do and I’m losing sleep. I’m really scared for them. Even if the answers are painful maybe the fear will go away.

Edit: sounds like most people are saying get an accountant who can help them figure out what their SS and pension money will be and budget so they can work towards sustainability at that new income level. I think they’ve always just lived paycheck to paycheck and put emergency stuff on credit cards.
