If you haven’t heard, you are eligible to have student loans forgiven if you work for a non-profit, or governmental entity for 10 years. You must make the minimum and never miss a payment.
The Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program forgives the remaining balance on your Direct Loans after you have made 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan while working full-time for a qualifying employer. via: Student Loan Forgiveness
Personal story: My wife is currently on this plan and will only pay out a total of $24,000 over the 10 year period. This is much less than her student loan total (bachelors, masters degree, and multiple certifications).
