Location: Indianapolis, IN north suburbI'm in the process of removing the old vinyl flooring and carpet from my downstairs and replacing all of it with laminate wood flooring. I'm going to have a contractor do the install, but I'm doing the demo. Please note that my house is built on a slab, so the subfloor is concrete. While removing the floating vinyl flooring I discovered that it had been installed on top of a glued down linoleum floor which really pissed me off. Using a heat gun and a scraper I got all of the linoleum bullshit up, but of course it left a paper backing behind. Now I've done some research, and Reddit/Youtube says that a solvent adhesive remover or a wall paper steamer can help you get this paper backing up, but my question is do I need to?Is it a bad idea to leave this paper backing? I've got a lot of other things to do before the flooring is installed, and I'm running out of time before the contractor starts work next week on the install. It's extremely thin of course so it seems like leaving it should effect the level of the floor, but I have no experience in this sort of thing.Pictures of paper backing (I hope they're clear enough to show what I'm talking about):http://ift.tt/2m31Ktz http://ift.tt/2CPWDY8 you! via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2Eh0TN7
