I have a small bedroom on the top level in a split-level home. It has a standard reach-in closet, and next to that is an enclave storage area that has been built above the stairwell. This enclave storage area is deeper than the standard closet, approximately 4 feet deep and width with the door panels approximately 3 feet wide. It is not to the floor (because of the stairs), so the base of it is about 3 feet off the ground. The height is 6 feet.I currently hate this space. My daughter uses it as a method to dump everything to "clean her room". I want to maximize the space and be able to get into the space efficiently. (She'll be moving out, soon.)Please direct me to what this part of a house is called: dormer closet? Alcove closet? Closet? I'm trying to find ideas so I can prove to my husband that we need to improve this space and that it can be done without racking up a custom closet bill. via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2tvI6tm
