so, my lease is up in february, my current apartment complex (which I love) is increasing its prices, I struggle with making rent as it is, so this increase will pummel me, I don't want to re-sign and live another year struggling with $6 in my account at the end of the month, I work a pretty good job making 10.15+/hour rangeing from 30-60 hours a week
my plan, is to not renew my lease, place my furniture in storage for a few months, and car sleep from the end of february until june, I have friends that are offering to let me shower and do laundry, I live in florida so cold nights are non-existant, I have a sams club card that will save me money on dry groceries while I have no place to cook, and I would claim that I lost my parking pass to my current apartment so that I may keep the car on the premises (non gated, but parking decal enforced) at night, I have friends in this complex that can cover for me if an issue arises, there are also showers where I work so that is a help as well
my reason for doing this is to cut my bills for 4-5 months, and allow me to save for a down payment needed for a house, with working so many hours, i'm not able to get a second job around my schedule, and even if I started as a manger tomorrow, it would be years before I would break even with my current bills, so while increasing my income isnt possible, lowering my expenses is, so that is my plan, and then I can break a cycle and move up instead of constantly on the verge of drowning
after my lease ends, I shut off the power, and disconnect my internet, ill have about 650/month in bills, varying depending on the storage locker, if I keep up my current hours, ill be bringing in more than 2k/month, but i'm expecting a cut soon as we hire a new round of temp employees, still, I would have a minimum of 1k/month after bills, giving me about 7k by june when I want to place a down payment
really, I would like any advice you have, and cons that I may not be seeing, and words of wisdom or words of people who have car slept before
