I've done a little research online and I can't seem to find the best answer. We have plans to meet with an accountant in the next couple of weeks but I want to pose my question here. Wife and I have a combined income of just over $300k with no dependents. It seems with this income level we are getting taxed more than if we are single and filing separately. We are seriously considering a divorce, (but staying together of course), to lower our taxes. We have friends in the same boat that have chosen not to get married because their accountant said they would pay more in taxes. We live in Oregon where our income tax is already high. Thank you for your thoughts.
