So I just found out I got hired as a pharmacy tech at Rite Aid. My new manager called me today and asked me to come in to fill out paperwork and to bring a check. I asked if I could come in tomorrow and she said she needed it done today.

I don't use checks so I had to go to the bank to get one and they gave me a direct deposit slip instead. I went in and the computer systems were down.

After filling out the paperwork she said she needed my social security card. But I didn't bring it because all she said I needed on the phone was a check. She said it wasn't a big deal, and to write down my social. Then she needed to go do something in the pharmacy so I didn't get to write it down.

She photocopied some papers and then gave me her cell phone number and said to text her a picture of my social security card when I got home so she can say that she saw it. "Visual Verification" she said. I asked if she needed me to send my pharmacy license or my pharmacy certification. She said I can just bring those in, but she needed a picture of my my social. :L

I really need this job. I don't want to be difficult. Should I just text her and say I can't find it and then come bring it in tomorrow? I don't want to take a picture of my social security card and send her a picture just to save time. Especially since she never told me I needed to bring it in today. She was more concerned with me bringing in a check, than my social. I didn't even need to bring a check! Maybe she is a scatter brain, but just to be on the safe side I would rather just bring it in.

I will be handling sensitive health data for patients. I want to be compliant but I don't want to break rules just for the sake of saving time. I have never in my life taken a picture of my social security card and it feels like sacrilege just thinking about doing it.

What should I tell her?
