What are your thoughts on this question? This is further re-iterated in the actual job advert, where it is clearly stated: "Salary is non-negotiable". The job is in the field of politics at a UK embassy in an EU country.
I'm sure at my job interview the question will also be asked. How does one appropriately response to this question? I do not think that the salary fully corresponds to the tasks of the job, as well as the requirement to work some evenings, attend evening events, the travel required, and the cost of living, especially transportation, increasing rent, health insurance in the country the job is based, not to mention the cost of language school. I am mostly fluent in the language but would like to continue learning the language.
If the salary is genuinely non-negotiable, how likely is it that the employer will pay for/ contribute towards the cost of living etc.? I have never negotiated salary before so I am a little unsure where to go.
Having said that... I am really looking to change careers and this job has excellent future prospects.
