As I hope the title explains, I'm having trouble with some kitchen countertops in my newly DIY-remodelled kitchen. The first slab of beech wood (for the countertops) I purchased six months ago turned out to not be enough so a week ago I purchased a second slab - albeit bought at different stores I compared the new slab with pieces from the old one and they looked completely alike (the old and the new slab). For the past two weeks I've coated the new slab with exactly the same oil (a new can but exactly the same, from Ikea), but here's the problem - the old slab is somewhat darker, or richer, in color than the new one even though there shouldn't be any difference? The only thing I can think of that is happening is that maybe Ikea slightly changed the oil or at that the new slab cured in a cooler climate (since it's autum) and that made a difference somehow.Anyone knows what's going on? Or have an idea to darken the new slab to more closely resemble the old one? via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2mykyEa
