I just finished watching The Big Short and have some new inspiration for making money. I know there's a huge difference in what happened in 2008 and what's happening in Vancouver now, but I was wondering if there's any way to make money off of it. I know that the big foreign (mostly Chinese) investors coming into Canada to buy up properties aren't at a risk of defaulting on mortgages as they're millionaires, but is there any other way to exploit them?
For those of you not on the up & up, millionaire Chinese investors are coming to Vancouver, buying up heaps of expensive properties, as the price goes up they tell all their friends how amazing the market is, then sell it to the new group of Chinese investors and so on (very pyramid schemey). The Vancouver housing market is being treated like a commodity more than housing for the locals that very much need it, so I'd like to take this opportunity to make money off the greedy FDI's. Any and all input (as long as you're not a condescending asshole about it) is welcome. Thanks /r/investing!!!
