So we got Obamacare last year, family of 4 for around $460 a month. This year my wifes work offered employees insurance. The insurance is $1250 a MONTH for a family of 4. We simply can't afford that cost. We just dont have a extra $800 a month in disposable income set aside for insurance. Thats like a second mortgage!
Other than going without insurance and just putting that money into a savings account - maybe some accidental and life insurance policies. Whats our options?
From what I read if your employer offers you insurance - you have to take it. You can't sign up for Obamacare to get the subsidized insurance. Even IF your employers insurance is ridiculous.
It feels like we are being punished for working. I'm a web developer, my wifes a RN nurse. We both work full time and do pretty decent. Our son just started college this year and we just didnt budget a extra $800 a month. That's practically all of our monthy savings/investment/disposable income. It just isnt feasible.
We cant be the only family being hit with these ridiculous costs. Anyone have a similar experience. Whats the plan?
