I have black mold growing on all of the windowsills in my apartment. I first noticed and reported the problem to the apartment manager back in May. He sent a maintenance person who literally just painted over the mold. I was horrified, but the person told me it was "mold inhibiting paint." It actually kept the mold at bay for a few months, but I started to notice it returning and called the apartment manager again a few weeks ago. He came by himself and sprayed a blue substance on it that he said was a "mold killer." He said he'd return the following day to "seal it" with the mold inhibitor (aka paint over it again). He never came back and never called. I called again to ask him if he could come back because the mold is still there. He said he had a busy day, but he'd try. I get the impression that this is a very low priority item for him, but it is a big deal to me! I don't want to live in a place that has mold, and I may have to move if something doesn't happen soon. I am concerned for my health and the health of my family. However, I am also worried that I may be held liable for the mold even though I reported it (as my lease states that I should). Is there anything I can do to protect myself? I have written down the dates that I called and the action that was taken each time. Not sure what else I can do.
