I practice simple living in an old apartment building.
Physically--through heatless showers, in-home workouts, leaving lights off, cooking, baking sourdough, growing bean sprouts, limiting myself to one set of utensils, etc.--and mentally--through meditation, reading, playing instruments, and researching botany, mycology, and simple living online.
It's easy for me to bring my utensils, water bottle, and a "Tupperware lunch" to work as well.
Now, the one thing I am concerned with in this old building is my tap water. I have been drinking it for two years without a problem, but the concern alone has created unnecessary anxiety. One of my roommates--who doesn't practice simple living--drinks bottled water for this very reason.
A lot of concern stems around Flint, Michigan, and the lead in their water supply. I know that I should get my water tested, but I have a very rude landlord; and, I would need to go behind his back and pay for it myself.
Anyway, having a filter might also help my roommate quit giving unesessary wealth to the bastards at Poland Springs.
Anyone know of a reliable, long-term, somewhat portable--in other words: good--water filter?
