My parents make a large amount of money for our household of three people, which puts me far out of the poverty level or maximum income for need based scholarships. However, they are refusing to cosign my loan at all. I have a mediocre GPA at 3.2, so I don’t qualify for many merit based scholarships either. In addition, to saying they won’t cosign, they also have said they won’t pay for my college application fees. I’m a senior in high school and I don’t know where to go from here. I don't know where to go from here. I do have many higher level classes (AP and IB) which might get me merit scholarships, but nothing close to the average cost of a state college here in California ($35k).
What should I be doing to maximize my situation?
