Hi PF,

I am starting a new job earning 2.7x more than I do currently. I've got a budget set-up to aggressively pay off debts, save for retirement, etc.

But, I am struggling with wanting to buy 'stuff.'

This has ranged from a new couch, a new tv, a different car...etc. I've never had this feeling before in my life and it's the beginning of lifestyle creep. I've always been a 'buy it for lifer.' My car is great, paid off, cheap to maintain and operate. My TV is good. And my couch is good enough.

I've never had this urge to buy stuff before.

How do you manage lifestyle creep? and the consumerism engrained in American culture?
