I am an 18 year old, just starting work at a logistics company for 21k a year. Because I come from a fairly poor household, my parents could never afford to buy passports and such so I never got a bank account. I have tried a few times with the documents I have but it never worked out.
Because of this, I gave my parents banking details to my place of work. My parents have recently told me that they will take a lot from my salary, way more than I have budget for, and so will take me much much longer to save up to leave.
I have already offered to pay for my own meals, utilities and such. Though my parents don't pay any rent, neither of them work, and they are on benefits, they want to charge me more rent than most of the studio appartments in the area, to stay in my room I share with 2 siblings.
Is there any way I can get my money without going through their bank? And, is it legal for them to claim what goes into their banks as their own?
Sorry if I ramble too much, this is my first post here.
EDIT: Thank you for the suggestions! It does seem that I can't really get anywhere without valid photo ID so I will probably sacrifice my first paycheque to my parents, and use whatever small percent of it left to buy a passport and sort myself out from there.
