Tried to replace a toilet tonight for the first time ever. I struggled for over an hour to properly set the bowl and failed over and over. The T-bolts wouldn't stand up, they kept falling over and made it extremely difficult to get them aligned into the holes. When I finally did, they kept sinking into the flange making it impossible to get the nuts onto them! The bowl also wobbled a bit on the tile floor. I feel like the wax ring didnt make good contact. I used the Oaty one with the plastic flange. Would tightening the bolts correct this?Btw, the old toilet was siliconed around the base. When I pulled it up, there was dirty water all within the base and in the flange ... I'm wondering if the old wax ring wasn't sealing properly?Suggestions? I'm thinking I need a thicker wax ring. Do I also need a flange spacer or something for the bolts? via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2h40Om1
