I have two dogs. Although they're pretty well house trained, they still pee on the rugs once in a while when it's raining or something. I have water resistant floors, leather fabric on couches, but I don't know what to do about rugs. The most obvious solution would be to get rid of them altogether, but I get bored of just wood grain and tile. I've tried tons of cleaning products but it's tiring and there's usually some residual urine smell in the house regardless.
I have waterproof mats in the kitchen for comfort while standing. The other day, one guilty dog peed on one of those and it just pooled instead of absorbing... and I got the idea. Is there something like those that come in much huger sizes? Perhaps ones that aren't just one shade of industrial looking colors and are less ugly? Are there pet proof rugs?
For now I clean the rugs for as long as I can take it and eventually get rid of them. My best solution I've had is getting cheap wool or imitation ones made out of nylon I don't feel bad about throwing out. I tried and indoor/outdoor rug but I still need to bring it outside to hose it down. Is there a better way?
