The orb is made of embroidery hoops form Michael's ($1.79 each pair, I got 3 pairs) stained using custom cognac color mix we already had left over from another project, dark bronze rust-oleum metal spray paint ($5) has primer in jt. Total cost ~$11.I pre stained then stained the hoops, ended up using 5 of the 6 I had. It took some work to get all 5 in a way that I liked that looked even and symmetrical to me. Glued them in place with wood glue. Took the chandelier down, removed the glass housing (it was just a few screws), sanded it a bit to rough it up, cleaned it up with a rag, and hunt it from a tree outside. I gave it two coats with the metal spray paint. Re-hung the chandelier then attached the hoops in to one of the chains. Thinking of switching to edison bulbs but they can be pricey and I was hoping for a chew I redo.
