At the beginning of the year, my wife emailed her manager asking how much vacation she had. Her manager emailed her back saying she had ~180 hours of vacation to use.
She's used less than half of that at this point, and emailed her manager last week to let her know the days remaining in the year that she would be taking vacation. Her manager then informed her that she had mistakenly said she had 4 weeks vacation, when she really only had 2 weeks vacation to use for 2017.
Obviously this caught my wife off guard as she has travel plans and other plans for what she believed was her remaining vacation time. Can her employer cut down her vacation hours in mid-year? Is there a way my wife can fight this if my employer says "No more vacation for 2017"?

EDIT - Update 1: Going to check on her paystubs (ones for January and her most recent) for vacation information. Also, she was full time (40 hrs) and went to part time (20 hrs/wk) about 3 years ago. She says she's been using the same amount of vacation time all along (4 weeks) since she was never told otherwise. This is most likely where the issue came into play. Will update again once we get the paystub info. Thanks.
